The problem

Downtime was logged at the end of a shift from memory, so reason codes were guesses and short stops disappeared entirely.

The approach

Entry was reduced to a few taps on a shared terminal: pick your name, enter a PIN, choose a reason code, confirm. The client tolerates a dropped network and reconciles when it returns, because the plant network does drop.

The result

Downtime reasons are captured at the moment they happen, which makes the resulting Pareto worth acting on. Measured capture-rate lift: TBD.

Inside the app

Real screens with branding blurred, or reproduced with anonymized data — no client names, logos, or user identities.

Log screen on a shared floor terminal: pick the line that is down, start the timer, and see today's recorded downtime and completed events at a glance.
Period report: total downtime with prior-period delta, then Pareto breakdowns by equipment, line, and cause, a daily trend against the period average, and top events — exportable to PDF or CSV.
